With over 25 years of sewing experience in historical dressmaking, I've brought my skill and passion to mask making in this strange new time we find ourselves. Wearing a mask is common sense. It doesn't have to be plain and utilitarian. Life is too short to be boring!
A little about what makes my masks different...
I've been wearing them to work at a restaurant since the pandemic started and I've had a lot of opportunity and different heads and faces to experiment on, from toddlers to giant bowling balls.
Whether elastic or ties, I got you covered, I can do ear loops out of soft elastic with adjustable slides . Most of my masks go out with the elastic going around the head rather than the ears. This keeps the mask from pulling and keeps it smooth against your face. I can also do ties if you prefer.
I'm always reading the most current articles on mask filtration, and mine utilise these layers internally. They can be washed and dried and should be laundered between each use in a delicates bag. My quadruple-layer mask uses a layer of polypropylene isolation gown fabric and a layer of Filti, a fabric specifically designed for masks that is the equivalent to MERV 15 furnace filters between the two outer cotton layers. This mix of layers utilise electrostatic attraction as their functionality. Here are some of the articles that I found helpful. I'm always looking for more research as we get further into this epidemic and new science becomes available.
My masks are meant to be an assist in keeping yourself from accidently transmitting the virus and a layer of defense against it when you're in public. Wash your hands often, don't touch your face until you do, and keep your distance.
Stay safe friends!
